Fees
- Adult (18+ years): $15 per night
- Child (5–17 years): $7.50 per night
- Infant (0 - 4 years): free

The DOC Campsite Pass can be used at this campsite.
Campsite Pass bookings must be booked online before occupying a site. If you do not book, bookings may be made by campground staff (if present) and will incur a $10 service charge. Sites may not be available if you do not book.
Bookings
Bookings are open for stays up to 30 June 2027.
- If no availability shows online for your dates, the campsite is fully booked.
- No spaces are kept for campers arriving without a booking.
- Phone and in‑person bookings made at a visitor centre incur a $10 service fee.
- Same‑day bookings are available online until 8 pm if spaces remain.
Your booking will be for a site, which will be allocated or selected on arrival.

Off SH1 at Herbert, turn into Ord St, left at Monk St, then right into Glencoe Rd. 2 km west of Herbert. Gravel road access.

Know before you go
Waianakarua Nohoanga
Next to the Glencoe DOC Campsite you will see the Waianakarua Nohoanga. The nohoanga season runs from 16 August to 30 April each year. During this period, the site is for the exclusive use of Ngāi Tahu whānui who hold authorisation from Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu. The nohoanga site is clearly signposted.
About Nohoanga
Nohoanga sites are seasonal camps set aside for Ngāi Tahu whānui to carry out mahinga kai/traditional food gathering and reconnect with places used by their tīpuna/ancestors. These sites were established through the Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement Act 1998 and are located beside rivers and lakes across Te Waipounamu/The South Island.

A short 100 metre, 5 minute walking track, signposted from the campground, provides access to the North Branch of the Waianakarua river.
