Puhoi to Remiger Road Track

This track is part of Te Araroa Trail.

The track climbs up from the Puhoi Domain car park through the Council reserve and onto an open ridge. The ridge gives fine views of the village and surrounding valley.

From the ridge, the track enters the Puhoi Scenic Reserve for a level stroll through podocarp forest. There are kauri trees, mature pūriri, tōtara and nīkau.

A fence style marks the western edge of the reserve. You can either return to the open ridge section and complete the (anticlockwise) loop walk back to the carpark, or continue to Remiger Road swing bridge and car park. Te Araroa track continues to Remiger Road.

This section of the track crosses private land, including some recently harvested pine forest. Keep to the formed trail.

The main entrance is from the Puhoi Domain, across the bridge from the historic Puhoi Pub. The track entrance is beside the toilet block.

The western end is at Remiger Road, approximately 4 km from Puhoi, where there is parking for several cars. As the swing bridge has been removed, walk across the road bridge towards Ahuroa, then cross the small stream to join the well-marked track.

In winter the track above the Domain can be slippery and muddy.

Stock may be grazing the lower section of the track up the ridge line.
