Pā Road Walk

This track is part of Te Araroa Trail.

This short walk takes you from the Kororipo Scenic Reserve down to the head of the Wairoa Stream.

The track leads you through a mix of mainly regenerating scrub and tall exotic gums. It ends at the Kerikeri River where a bridge connects to a short Far North District Council track and the continuation of the Te Araroa trail.

The Pā Road Walk can be reached from the Kerikeri Basin on Kerikeri Road. Access is across the carpark from the Stone Store, or from the St James Church lower carpark. Once on top of the Kororipo Pa head south along the Pa Road Walk.

• Dogs are not permitted on the walking tracks in the Kerikeri Basin due to the risk they pose to kiwi and other wildlife.
• There is a parking and picnicking area on the northern side of the footbridge over the Kerikeri River. You can also leave your car at the St James lower carpark.
• Before leaving for your walk, make sure your vehicle is locked and any valuables out of sight.

This area is rich in historical significance and was a popular watering spot during pre-European times.
