Description
From the Lake Marian car park, cross the swing bridge and follow the track to the spectacular series of waterfalls, about 10 minutes walk.
Marian Creek is very swift and the rocks beside it are slippery. A fall into the water could cause serious injury or death. Stay on the track and away from the creek edge. Keep children within arm’s reach and watch them carefully.
The end of Marian Falls Track is the start of Lake Marian Track, an advanced tramping track suitable for experienced, well-prepared hikers. Lake Marian Track requires good fitness and moderate to high level backcountry (remote areas) skills and experience, including navigation and survival skills.
Getting there
The track begins from the Lake Marian car park, which 1 km down the unsealed Hollyford Road.
To find the Hollyford Road, turn off from the Milford Road (SH94) at Marian Corner, a few minutes towards Milford Sound from The Divide.
Marian Corner is about 87 km along the Milford Road from Te Anau.
Know before you go
Swift water, slippery rocks – drowning risk
The rocks are slippery and the Marian Creek current is strong. A fall into the water could cause serious injury or death. Stay on the track. Keep children within arm’s reach and watch them carefully.
