This flat and well-formed track passes through native podocarp-hardwood forest and has a variety of birds - with a picnic table at the start, it's a good option for families.

Description
This wheelchair and buggy accessible short loop track is a great introduction to bushwalking.
There is a car park and picnic table at the start of the track.
Getting there
Gordon Park Scenic Reserve is located on the corner of Kaimatira Road and No.3 Line Whanganui East. The car park is accessible of Kaimatira Road.
Know before you go
Lighting fires and camping are not allowed in the reserve.
Nature and conservation
The walk passes through species such as mataī, tōtara, tītoki, tawa, kōwhai and kahikatea.
Birds such as fantail/pīwakawaka, tūī, bellbird/korimako, NZ pigeon/kererū, grey warbler/riroriro and also shining cuckoo/pīpīwharauroa in season have made this area their permanent home, along with visitors such as pūkeko, fernbird/mātātā, bittern/matuku-hūrepo and grey duck/pārera can also be seen in the area.
