Head to Tamaki Road end by following the track up through forest to Takapari Road. From there you’ll follow a bulldozed road 100 m to the hut.

Description
The track turns uphill and climbs steeply through podocarp then leatherwood forest to Takapari Road. Turn right at the top and follow an old bulldozed road for 100m to reach the A Frame Hut.
Getting there
The Tamaki West Roadend to A-Frame Hut Track is located at the end of Tamaki West Road, Dannevirke. The road end is a 1 hr / 60 km drive from Palmerston North and a 1 hr 30 min / 130 km drive from Napier.
Park at the road end and follow the signs 200 m to the picnic area. The track starts from the picnic area. This area has flush toilets and a shelter with picnic tables.
