A permit is required to hunt on public conservation land.
This hunting area is covered by a 'restricted area permit'. Contact the DOC office managing the hunting area.
No hunting in Pioneer Park from 1 October to 1 April (Easter and Anzac weekends included).
Dogs allowed. Keep dog under control at all times.
About this hunting block
Hunt wallaby and pigs in the 125 hectares of Pioneer Park.
General information
Pioneer Park is 24 km west of Geraldine. It lies between State Highways 79 and 8 and is close to the upper Ōpihi River.
Pioneer Park Conservation Area is an amphitheatre. It has a camping area at the base surrounded by native bush, which includes a small plantation of eucalyptus.
Access
Follow Geraldine Fairlie Highway SH79 for 23 km before turning left into Gudex Road. Take the next right onto Middle Valley Road. Follow this road for 2 km before turning left through the iron gates into Pioneer Park.
Helicopter landings will not be approved.

Dogs
Dogs are permitted but are required to be under control at all times.

There are no huts and bivvies in this area.
