About this hunting block
A 628 hectare hunting area on the shores of Lake Coleridge in the Rangiora district.
General information
This area is essentially one hill on the south west of Lake Coleridge. It's a small block of 630 ha of which 300–400 ha can realistically be hunted.
The land rises from the lake quite steeply and is predominantly covered in grassland, scrub and shrubland with some alpine herbfields on the peak and higher slopes. There are some scrubby guts and faces which provide good cover for animals, with some more open upper slopes and rocky ridges which can be good for spotting Chamois.
Access
Hunters can only access this area by boat from Lake Coleridge.
There is no access for hunting up the track from the Algidus Road – this is a popular walking track across a farmland easement.
Landowners
The surrounding area is farmland (Peak Hill and Mt Oakden). The hunting area can't be accessed from those farms.
