Lindis - Firearms prohibited on access tracks

Hunt red deer, tahr and chamois in the mountain range in the Lindis Pass area.

The Lindis Conservation Area and Lindis Pass Scenic Reserve cover the mountain region in the Lindis Pass area.

Hunters can gain access via:

• Lindis Pass car park: access by walking along the northern ridge crest from Lindis Pass itself.
• North side of Highway 6: access via the car park provided for the Melina Ridge Track. Note: Hunters are not allowed to carry firearms on the Melina Ridge Track where it crosses private farmland.
• South side of Highway 6: an unmaintained 4WD road located 5 km East of the Lindis Pass, provides access to the southern portion of the Lindis Conservation Area and Lindis Scenic Reserve. There is no vehicle access past a locked gate.

Access condition – routes that can't be used

Hunters can't use the following routes for access as carrying firearms is not allowed these areas: Dromedary Hill off SH8, Avon Burn valley off Birchwood Road, Goodger Road to Lindis Conservation Area and the easement that runs from the southern part of the conservation to the Goodger Road - Lindis Conservation easements.

Hunting is prohibited in the immediate area surrounding the Lindis Pass lookout (shown as red on the map) in the scenic reserve.

Dogs are allowed with a valid hunting permit. They must always be kept under control. The conservation area is surrounded by farmland. Note: Dogs are not allowed on Melina Ridge Track where it crosses private farmland.
