About this hunting block
Located 67 kilometres north-west of Whanganui, both the Jean D'Arcy Conservation Area and Powatunga Scenic Reserve are cloaked in podocarp/tawa forest. Deer, goats and pigs are found here.
Fallow deer and goats are present in moderate numbers. Pigs are present in low numbers.
General information
Situated 67km north-west of Whanganui, both blocks are podocarp/tawa forest. The Ahu Ahu Stream becomes very entrenched through the southern section of Powataunga Scenic Reserve. Kiwi are known to be present.
Access
From State Highway 3, turn off at Kai Iwi onto Rangitatau East Road then onto Watershed Road. Access to the Jean D’Arcy Conservation Area is directly off Watershed Road. Access to the Powataunga Block is through the Jean D’Arcy Conservation Area or by negotiated private access.

Dogs
A separate permit is required to hunt with dogs. All dogs must be avian avoidance certified. Contact the local DOC office for details.

There are no DOC huts in this reserve.
